Flight of the Conchords – Feel Inside (and stuff like that)

An oldie but a goodie, I think. It’s pretty long. There’s a shorter version that just has the song, but I felt like the context was important. For those who don’t know, Flight of the Conchords is a New Zealand based comedy band that had an HBO sitcom for two seasons, and they were asked to apply their brand of self-aware humor to a charity song. How does this work as a parody? Would you consider it a parody even? I think that there are some satirical elements that come from the self-aware writing, but it’s role is still to be used as a genuine charity song. I dunno. What do you guys think?

  1. I didn’t find it laugh out loud funny, but it was definitely cute. It was interesting and showed a new prospective, which was good and entertaining.

  2. I’ve always been a pretty big fan of Flight of the Conchords, so it’s nice seeing a video of theirs as part of this class. Their humor is a bit odd and dry most of the time, but if you happen to share their type of comedy (as I do) then they’re great. Good video.

  3. I love Flight of the Conchords. This bit with the kids was hilarious, and they’re actually really good with them. They’re always great with the songwriting.

  4. The two true honest individuals in the world: those who have had to much to drink and children. I thought the way they incorporated their dialogue in was hilarious. I’ve always enjoyed Flight of the Conchords, great post.

  5. I didn’t find it extremely funny, but I did enjoy it. I have always liked Flight of the Conchords though, so I am a bit biased. This seems to lean more towards cute and that sort of “kids say weird things” humor rather than parody, but that isn’t a bad thing. It all worked out into a sort of Live Aid sort of charity song, which I enjoyed.

  6. WTF!?!?!?! Savage is still alive?! I forgot this dude even existed. Talk about major throwback. Cool video though.

  7. It was funny but as others said, it seems more like straight humor than parody. I’ve seen a dozen song projects like this…all they need to do for content is asking the little tykes.

  8. I honestly thought it was long and boring. The pace of the video was super slow. I’m not sure if it is because of the type of humor of the video or because of the cultural difference.
